Two youths arrested and two escape following knife point ATM robbery in Waterford
Two teenage boys who held up a man at knifepoint at an ATM in Waterford were arrested following a chase, but two other males remain on the run.
Shortly after 8pm last night, Waterford gardai received report of an armed robbery in progress at the ATM at AIB on Paddy Browns Road.
A man was approached by four males all wearing hoodies, one of the muggers was brandishing a knife and the man was told to take money out of the ATM “or he would be stabbed.”
The man fearing for his safety took out some money out of the ATM, he was then searched by the four muggers and a phone and wallet taken from him.
At that moment a Garda car arrived on the scene with two of the suspects fleeing the area. The gardai took chase and caught the two suspects.
They two youths were arrested on the spot and brought to Waterford Garda Station for questioning but the other two remain at large.
The victim of the attack was unharmed, and his phone recovered. His wallet and the cash taken from the man have not been recovered.
The Garda are still looking for the other two males involved in the attack.
