Waterford TD welcomes €440,000 funding for local climate change initiatives
A Waterford TD has welcomed the announcement €440,000 funding for Waterford City and County Council.
However theGreen Party TD Marc Ó Cathasaigh highlighted the climate related weather issues we are experiencing on an ongoing basis which have led to the need for such funding.
Funding was allocated to projects in Tramore, Butlerstown, Ballyduff, Ardmore, Copper Coast Road, Mahon Bridge and Ballyheeney Bridgeas part of the Climate Change Adaptation Allocation 2020.
“I welcome this week’s funding of €150,000 for the repair of the sea wall in Tramore as these necessary works will protect Strand Street and the road along The Prom in Tramore from further weather related damage and potential collapse,” Deputy Ó Cathasaigh said
“Other allocations throughout the county such as €100,000 for Ardmore, €30,000 for the Copper Coast Road, €60,000k for Butlerstown and €50,000 for Ballyduff will mitigate against flooding and reduce road closures and these improvements will bring significant benefits to the communities involved.”
