NORTH QUAYS: Announcement on long-awaited planning application to be made within ‘days’, say investors
The company behind the landmark North Quays development has said it will make an annoucement outlining “specific details” in relation to its long-awaited planning application over the coming days.
The Saudi-backed Falcon Real Estate Development previously said the planning application for the €350 million regeneration project would be lodged with Waterford City and County Council before the end of this month.
The planning application has yet to be lodged with the council, prompting speculation locally that the deadline would not be met.
However, in a statement to WaterfordNow.ie this evening, the Dublin-based public relations firm representing the North Quays investors said: “Falcon Real Estate Development confirms that the company is currently preparing an application for planning permission for the Waterford North Quays and Michael Street Developments. The company intends to provide more specific details in the coming days.”
The North Quays project has been beset by delays, which has led to fears being expressed locally development will not go ahead as planned, or that it will be reduced in scale. Falcon Real Estate had previously said work on the North Quays site would begin before the end of this year.
