Jobs and retail blow for city as one of Waterford’s best-known fashion stores closes
One of Waterford’s best known fashion stores will not open for the first Saturday in many years today after its owners announced it was “ceasing trading immediately” yesterday evening.
Swamp Fashion confirmed it was closing all of its nine stores across the country, including its outlet on John Roberts Square in Waterford city-centre.
Up to 80 jobs will be lost as a result of the closures.
The company took to social media yesterday to announce the news and to thank their customers.
A spokesperson said: “To all our wonderful customers, today has been a sad day. The Directors of Swamp Ltd. regret to announce that the company will cease trading today.
“We sincerely thank all our loyal customers and wish them well in the future.
“For any queries please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Swamp’s shops in Cork, Limerick, Athlone, Tralee, Galway and Waterford will close this evening.
“Go raibh maith agat. Slan go foill, the Swamp team.”
